St. Nicholas Day 2009 — St. Nicholas the Wonder-Worker, our parish saint, was glorified on December 6 in a beautiful hierarchical Divine Liturgy. This time it was special for many reasons, one of which was the elevation of Fr. Nicholas to archpriest. Axios!

December 2009 — Third annual youth retreat at St. John Monastery in Hiram on Facing Up to Peer Pressure. "Happy are those who reject the advice of evil men, who do not follow the example of sinners, or join those who have no use for God…." (Psalm 1).

December 2009 — our very first Cookie Walk was a success. All the proceeds benefit St. Nicholas parish outreach programs.

December 2009St. Herman Monastery and House of Hospitality in Cleveland, OH. Several service missions were organized and donations were delivered for the homeless of St. Herman House of Hospitality.

November, 2009"Serving God" — a family retreat at Dormition Monastery. Reflections on the retreat This time, the focus of our conversations with Mother Gabriella was Serving God. We learned the simple truth that everything we do is important. We serve God by always doing the simplest things with love and joy and that our credit lies in the eyes of God and not people. Life with God should be joyful. God’s grace always keeps the spark of faith and joy in our hearts. The struggle is to "... keep that spark lit."

October 2009Spiritual Garden. The blessing of the ground for the spiritual garden took place on Sunday, October 21th. The cross was placed in the middle of the "phase one area" during prayers at the blessing.

May 2009 — St. Nicholas seniors enjoy parish’s first prom. Parishioners of St. Nicholas who are 65 years of age and older were recognized for their longevity and untiring dedication to our parish at the first annual St. Nicholas Senior Prom.

2009Hot Meals is a Christian outreach caring for the needy, the old, and the lonely — the most pervasive characteristic of our times.

February — April 2009Fish Fry. Our patrons voted our fish to be the best in town.

2008Young Orthodox Christian American Mission Adventures (YOCAMA) to the Navajo people of New Mexico. YOCAMA is a group that offers the opportunity for Orthodox people to “go West” to provide Christian love and aid to some of the poorest and most overlooked people in our society: Native Americans. Mark Atkins and Arlie "Maria" Crabtree were active members of this mission.

December 2008 — "…whoever wants to be the first must be last of all and servant to all" (Mark 9:35). A second annual youth retreat at St. John the Theologian Monastery in Hiram on Servant Leadership was held in. It served as a beginning for our youth to explore God’s will for their unique leadership style that is not self-serving but other–serving.

Project Mexico — The body of Christ as the body of our church is made of many people with gifts that are unique as are the ways we choose to serve God. Lori Smith has been going back to Mexico for a number of years helping build houses for Mexican families. She is St. Nicholas Parish's outreach to the world across the border.
